As
everyone knows, we’re now living in what they said globalization era where
everything becomes easy and reachable in every aspects. Globalization also
brings states to be more interdependence. According to World Bank,
“Globalization refers to the growing interdependence of countries resulting
from the increasing integration of trade, finance, people, and ideas in one
global marketplace.”
Besides many benefits globalization has offered to us, there's also many protest against globalization such as it could threaten national sovereignty. Economy being one of the most important sectors of globalization with one country’s products easily being exported to other countries or MNCs hired people in the place they relocated their building could threaten people’s interest to their own countries’ products and maybe could unnoticeably change the work method states initially have. This is such a trigger to countries that success to export their goods to the world to make more and more goods. But, did we forget something?
When countries are satisfied with the selling, they are surely want to create bigger profits. They will use sources they got from the environment to produce goods as many as they can. That’s where dangers are coming. Too focus on developing their economics may start harming the nature. It’s reported in 2010 that 16 million hectares of forest in the world are gone each year for the need to fulfill the demands of disposable products and the use for commercial and property industries. When the industrial activities are developing, the more they burn coal, oil and derivates as electricity generation the more GHG emissions being spread. The developed countries that have been the biggest polluters for decades being replaced by United States as the one responsible for 20% of global emissions spread. All of these matters bring us to what now we call global warming. Another matter globalization could lead us to is the excessive use of nature’s living things. Overfishing has been said took out completely some fish species out of the oceans.
It reminds us to 1970’s debate, from limits to growth to sustainable development. When economics development is starting to destroy environment, should we limit the use of it? What's clear that environment, nature has its own limits to serve human with all their doings. We as the earth’s civil society are on duty to keep the earth from collapsing. Every country, every company, every people should participate and work together on this duty maybe by creating treaty of the use of it or make products that are healthy to the environment. Globalization has been blamed over this destruction therefore we should solve this in globalization way.
